My Gear: What’s In My Pack

Field Tested & Current for the 2026 Season | Last Updated: June 2026"

Welcome to my personal gear guide. I don’t believe in collecting shiny, pristine kit just to look good on social media; the equipment on this page is the exact gear I pack into the camper van or strapped to the motorbike across the UK.

Every single item here has been used a lot, thoroughly tested, and proven to work when on an adventure. I bought it all with my own money, and if it's made it onto this list, it means I completely trust it when I'm out on the water or living by the campfire."

The Field & Gear: Life on the Road

Welcome to my kit bag. This space is a running journal of the gear, tools, and setups that make my time outdoors possible. For me, camping isn’t about surviving the elements; it’s about enjoying the landscape, finding a bit of peace, and eating incredibly well while doing it.

Depending on the trip and the British weather, my setup changes completely:

🏍️The Royal Enfield Setup: Some weeks, it’s all about stripping things down to the absolute essentials, packing light, and roughing it in a traditional tent with my Enfield motorcycle parked up beside the canvas.

🚐The Small Campervan Setup: Other weeks, it’s about the cozy comfort of the small van the perfect mobile basecamp for tracking down remote waters, stillwaters and escaping the rain.

Exploring the Best of the UK

No matter how I travel, the goal is always the same: hitting the road to check out new places, uncovering hidden local fishing spots, and pulling into proper country pubs for a cracking pint of local ale.

I’m passionate about trying to skip the supermarkets and sourcing my food directly from the land. You’ll usually find me stopping off at rural farm shops to grab organic local meats, or foraging for wild ingredients right by the camp. These pages is where I share the honest reviews of the tents, cooking gear, and outdoor kit that have earned a permanent spot in my pack.

Mastering the Art of Lightweight Motorbike Camping  🏍️

Tents, Sleeping & Equipment

When I head out on the Royal Enfield, my philosophy is simple: travel as light as possible, keep it easy, and never compromise on the quality of my kit. Over the years, I’ve put a lot of gear to the test, and finding the perfect balance between pack size and comfort is an ongoing adventure.

Here’s a look at the evolution of my current setup:

The Beginning

I absolutely loved my first tent, the Wingman of the Road. It is a brilliant piece of kit, rugged, cool, well made, and capable of standing up to just about anything the British weather can throw at it. However, after a few years on the road, I realized that at around 10kg, it was becoming a bit too heavy for the kind of agile, lightweight touring I prefer. If they did a lighter version i would definitely buy one again.

Learning The Ropes

I then moved to the OEX Bobcat 1. It was a great, compact tent that was incredibly easy to pitch, but I eventually found it a bit too claustrophobic for my liking, I just needed a bit more breathing room inside.

My Current Go To Tents

I have finally found a winning combination with the 3F UL Gear Taiji 2 and the Lanshan 1: Both light weight and very easy to put up.

3F UL Gear Lanshan 1 (Brown): This is my preferred choice for wild camping or quick, one night stops at more rustic sites. It strikes the perfect balance for solo, lightweight travel.

3F UL Gear Taiji 2 (White): When I’m heading to a proper campsite for a longer stay, I reach for the Taiji 2. It offers that extra bit of space and comfort I need when I’m planning to settle in for a few days.

I brought these tents from Camperlists 3 Fulgear Authorized dealer.

Choosing the right gear is all about knowing what you need for the trip ahead. Whether I’m tucked away in the woods or set up at a favorite rustic site, having gear that I trust makes all the difference.

🎒My Go To Sleep System: Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro

After experimenting with countless options over the years, I have finally found the perfect balance for year-round motorbike camping: the Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro (R-Value 4.4).

For me, it ticks every box:

  • Ultralight Performance: At just 820g, it keeps my total kit weight down without compromising on quality or comfort.

  • Year Round Versatility: With an R-value of 4.4, it provides the essential insulation I need for all my trips, regardless of the season.

  • Rapid Setup: The new Wing Lock valve is a game changer, allowing for incredibly fast inflation and deflation essential when you want to get settled quickly after a long day in the saddle.

It has become a permanent staple in my packing list, helping me stay mobile while ensuring a great night's sleep out on the road.

🌬️My Sleep System: Kilos Gear 3 Season Sleeping Bag

When it comes to my sleeping bag, I prioritize packability and versatility. My go to is the Kilos Gear 3-Season Sleeping Bag in green, and it has quickly become a favorite for my trips.

Why it’s a permanent part of my setup:

  • Ultralight & Compact: It weighs just 680g and packs down incredibly small, making it perfect for lightweight motorbike travel.

  • Full-Length Zip: I specifically love that the zip runs the full length of the bag, allowing it to open up completely, which provides great flexibility depending on the temperature.

  • Comfort & Warmth: Despite being lightweight, it is surprisingly snug and warm, ensuring I stay comfortable throughout the night.

It’s the ideal companion to my setup, keeping my overall load light while ensuring I’m prepared for whatever the weather throws my way.

🍳The Camp Kitchen: UCO Mini Flatpack BBQ & Grill

When it comes to cooking on the road, I look for items that pack away without taking up valuable space. The UCO Mini Flatpack BBQ & Grill has been a brilliant addition to my kit.

Why it works for my setup
