About the Author
Hi, I'm James, the founder of Fishing Field Fork. I’m a passionate UK angler, camper, and open-fire BBQ cook who believes the best meals are earned under the open sky. My journey started with a simple love for casting flies on British lakes, reservoirs, and hidden trout streams, but it quickly evolved into a complete outdoor lifestyle. For me, a day on the water isn't complete without pitching a tent in the hills with my Royal Enfield motorcycle or camper van and cooking up a feast over live wood embers.
I launched this site to cut through the marketing fluff and share honest, field-tested advice born from real miles on the trail. Whether I’m putting camping gear through its paces in unpredictable British weather, showcasing rustic catch-and-cook recipes, or hitting the road to review independent UK farm shops and hidden local food spots. When I’m not writing or reviewing local produce, you’ll find me scouting the waters, tracking down the finest regional ingredients around the UK or sitting by a campfire with a beer or cider. See you out in the wild!
Meet The Crew
Hey there! We are James and Friends , the faces behind Fishing Field Fork. We started this site because we grew tired of outdoor blogs that treated food as an afterthought, and food blogs that never left the city. We wanted a place that celebrated the whole journey from the lake, river and sea to the campfire.
The Story So Far
We’ve been fishing on and off for over 20 years, and if there is one major thing we’ve learned, it’s this: we are still learning, and we’re still not experts! But to us, that is the true beauty of it. You don’t need to be a professional to love the water. For us, it’s all about the escape, the patience, and the pure joy of simply being out there and giving it a go.

The Fishing
It’s all about chasing the best local fishing spots, learning the quirks of the water, and sharing the honest, unfiltered highs and lows of the hobby. Whether I'm casting lines or just enjoying the peace, it's about the pure experience of the catch.
The Field
We love exploring local spots, setting up camp, and completely disconnecting for a while. Sometimes I’m roughing it in a traditional tent alongside my Royal Enfield motorcycle; other times, I’m enjoying the cozy comfort of my Fiat campervan.
The Fork
Food simply tastes better outside. I’m passionate about tracking down fresh, local produce and ingredients from the specific areas I visit, then cooking them up from scratch over the BBQ or a camp fire.
Real, Honest Reviews
Part of the fun of being a lifelong learner is trying out new gear. From rods and reels to camp stoves and gadgets, we are always testing out new products and equipment. I’ll always give you my 100% honest, no-nonsense opinion on what works, what doesn't, and what's actually worth your hard-earned money.
"You don't have to be a master angler to have a master-class day on the water."
