Having been here a number of times on my travels, whether I'm camping, fly fishing in the area, or just out on the road, I thought it was about time I gave this spot a proper shout out.
The Straw Kitchen is easily one of my favourite cafés around. It’s got a brilliantly chilled out, boho-chic vibe both inside and out, and the whole place has been done up really tastefully. There’s a genuinely organic, natural, sustainable feel to it that I love, definitely not your typical commercial looking place.
Located right at Whichford Pottery, the building itself is something else; the owners actually hand-built it back in 2014 using straw bales and natural materials.
The Straw Kitchen Whichford Pottery Menu & The Food
If you are looking for standard, boring café grub, this isn't it. The straw kitchen menu is refreshingly different, focusing on seasonal food that changes weekly depending on what’s growing in their garden and what local suppliers bring in. You get properly good, healthy options across the board that makes you feel good.
The Super Brunch is what I always go for with Paddock farm bacon and extra halloumi, obviously, alongside some interesting daily specials, great soups, salads, breakfast plates, cakes, cold drinks and coffee. They also make a brilliant homemade chilli sauce that you have to try. I always overdo it!
The focus here is genuinely on healthy, seasonal, local food done properly, with the kind of attention to detail that always brings a smile to my face.
Visiting The Straw Kitchen in Warwickshire: The Vibe & Setup
When you arrive at The Straw Kitchen at Whichford pottery, the setup is straightforward: order you food at the counter bar, take your number, grab your cutlery, and help yourself to the sauces from the side counter. They have a very good selection including their homemade chilli sauce, Oxford brown sauce, and organic tomato, plus free jugs water.
The staff are always smiling and quick at taking orders, even when the queue is out the door. They run the place like clockwork.
Opening Times & Seating:
The café is open Wednesday to Saturday. There’s a good amount of indoor seating, plus plenty of space on the covered terrace or out on the grass if you fancy lounging.
The garden area is lovely, with plants and flowers growing all around the place, and sometimes a few chickens wandering about. It's a genuinely great spot to relax and take it all in, especially with the sun out. Happy days.

Field Tip: Make sure you get there early at weekends when the weather is good. It gets packed out, and you’ll often see a fair few cyclists rolling in to grab a spot. I get there at 9.45 am.

The Verdict: Is it worth the trip?
We’ve been here around ten times now, and it’s always a solid 8.5 out of 10. If you've been reading through the straw kitchen reviews trying to decide whether to visit this little corner of the Cotswold's, take it from me it is absolutely worth the drive.

Most of these are their Super Brunch on local toasted sourdough, eggs done a few different ways, Paddock Farm bacon, and some really good seasonal toppings.
